Lors de la 3e FCI Pigeon-Vet Conference, organisée par la Fédération Colombophile Internationale (FCI) en collaboration avec l’International Veterinary Pigeons Association
(IVPA), environ 95 vétérinaires, chercheurs et experts spécialisés se sont réunis sur place, rejoints par une quarantaine de participants en ligne, pour une journée d’étude
internationale consacrée à la médecine et à la santé des pigeons.

La conférence a été coordonnée par Elisabeth Peus, présidente de la Commission vétérinaire et scientifique de la FCI, et rendue possible grâce au soutien de la FCI sous
la direction de son président, David Barros Madeira. Elle a offert une plateforme importante d’échange scientifique, de dialogue professionnel et de partage d’expertise
pratique.
Les thèmes principaux comprenaient les maladies infectieuses chez les pigeons — telles que le paramyxovirus (PPMV), le rotavirus et la salmonelle —, les stratégies de
vaccination et de prévention, le contrôle du dopage dans le sport colombophile, ainsi que le cadre juridique des médicaments vétérinaires et du transport. Grâce à des
conférences d’experts et des discussions interactives, l’événement a fortement mis l’accent sur la collaboration internationale et des solutions fondées sur des preuves
scientifiques.

International veterinarians join forces on pigeon health in Dortmund
During the 3rd FCI Pigeon-Vet Conference, organized by the Fédération Colombophile Internationale (FCI) in collaboration with the International Veterinary Pigeons
Association (IVPA), around 95 veterinarians, researchers and specialized experts gathered on site, joined by approximately 40 online participants, for an international
study day dedicated to pigeon medicine and health.
The conference was coordinated by Elisabeth Peus, Chairwoman of the FCI Veterinary and Science Commission, and made possible with the support of the FCI under the
leadership of its President, David Barros Madeira. It provided a valuable platform for scientific exchange, professional dialogue and the sharing of practical expertise.
Key topics included infectious diseases in pigeons — such as paramyxovirus (PPMV), rotavirus and salmonella — as well as vaccination and prevention strategies, doping
control in racing pigeons, and the legal framework surrounding veterinary medicinal products and transport. Through expert lectures and interactive discussions, the event
strongly emphasized collaboration and evidence-based solutions to further professionalize the sector.

Tijdens de 3e FCI Pigeon-Vet Conference, georganiseerd door de Fédération Colombophile Internationale (FCI) in samenwerking met de International Veterinary
Pigeons Association (IVPA), verzamelden zo’n 95 dierenartsen, onderzoekers en gespecialiseerde experten ter plaatse, aangevuld met een 40-tal online deelnemers,
voor een internationale studiedag rond duivengeneeskunde en -gezondheid.
De conferentie werd gecoördineerd door Elisabeth Peus, voorzitster van de FCI Veterinary and Science Commission, en mogelijk gemaakt met de steun van de FCI
onder leiding van haar voorzitter, David Barros Madeira. Het congres bood een waardevol platform voor kennisuitwisseling, wetenschappelijke updates en
praktijkgerichte expertise.
Op het programma stonden onder meer infectieziekten bij duiven — zoals paramyxovirus (PPMV), rotavirus en salmonella —, vaccinatie- en preventiestrategieën,
dopingcontrole in de duivensport en de juridische omkadering van diergeneesmiddelen en transport. Via lezingen van internationale specialisten en interactieve gesprekken
